Synopsis

SEA BORN is an environmental drama
about the rise of a legend —
Jubal Freemountain, a South Pacific island boy
who develops  a very unique
and powerful kinship with the sea.

 Jubal develops in tumultuous times,
when modern pressures are displacing
the traditional island way of life.
Its influences manifest itself in many forms:
in the face of his mother,
who tries to force him to change
with the changing times;
of his teacher,
who tries to force western thought into his mind;
of his brother,
who becomes possessed by materialism;
and in the face of the Captain
of the commercial fishery,
who cons Jubal into tracking the big money fish, tuna, to slaughter for world market.

Through all this,
Jubal is constantly struggling
to maintain his core:
his extraordinary connection with nature.

In the end,
Jubal’s fight causes the displacement
of the commercial fishery,
so that it can no longer continue
its devastation of the ocean.
In addition,
the village community rallies around Jubal
to take back their island,
so that it may flourish into the future.

This is a story about the struggle to find balance
on this living earth,
within a changing world.
